A shipper's always a shipper
A/N: Spoilerphobes, the following post contains tidbits of ER season 13. Read at your own risk.
Holy crap!
I had just watched on TV the first few episodes of ER's season 13. Then I did some surfing on YouTube for nice ER recaps and music videos when something odd caught my attention. I bumped into a clip of season 13 episode 23, the scene where Ray was in the hospital with his legs amputated from an accident.
Why on earth did this happen? I was really stunned to death!
How could the writers do such a thing to an interesting character? Now that we've seen the light of the tunnel for the roomies (Ray and Neela), all of a sudden they gave us for kicks a twist of the storyline. Seriously, it's brutal. Pathetic. Brutally pathetic. Pathetically brutal. (When I say this line, I'm actually pulling my hair off due to anger.) *takes a deep breath*
I'm a fan of ER since year 1, have seen characters coming in and out over the years. I'm not addicted, though I do follow the episodes when the storylines are more focused on my favorite characters.
As a shipper, which I truly am since the years of Scully and Mulder (I sound so old, don't I?), I have a soft heart for REELA (Ray + Neela). They are my favorite ER couple. Well, Luka and Abby are also sweet but I kinda classify them to the senior's category: "the classic couple group" meaning, ordinary but not boring (no harm done people, don't give me that killer look). I'm more interested to follow the character development of the young, hot, and unpredictable pairs because angst is everywhere. This makes the relationship more interesting and in my dictionary of ship, angst means sweet lovin' comin' up.
The YouTube clip that I bumped into which had the most angst of all probably doesn't mean kissin' and lovin' ever after. Rumors spreading in the grapevine say that Shane West (the actor who plays Dr. Ray Barnett) will not anymore appear in season 14 and onwards. This is probably why the writers made a drastic turn of pulling the character out of the loop. I'm still hoping that he'll appear in season 14 with Neela at his side. This couple really deserves a happy ending. Seriously.
I'm gonna be monitoring the grapevine for updates and I hope there will be good news on my favorite couple. I hate to admit, but with what happened to Ray, I'm losing interest on watching the show. Call it a personal protest or whatever. I feel that it's just not fair.
Fiction is fiction but I'm so into this. The writers really know how to get us into riding the rollercoaster of unpredictable twists of fate full of surprises.
So like the real world.
